Project Impacts & Issues
The Project is expected to generate 1,368 additional daily vehicle trips on McGlincy, including over 100 trips during both morning (7–9 a.m.) and evening (4–6 p.m.) peak hours. This increase raises serious concerns about safety due to potential conflicts between vehicles and children, pedestrians, cyclists, and scooters.
Other key impacts include:
Increased traffic and safety risks in the Campbell Village Neighborhood
Strain on local businesses from traffic congestion and resident complaints
Loss of parking for Edith Morley Park and the Community Gardens
The Project is incompatible of residential transit with current conditions: McGlincy is already dangerous!
East and South McGlincy Lanes are narrow and often crowded with wide industrial vehicles, creating hazardous conditions. Drivers frequently cross the center line, especially on curves, and double parking for deliveries is common. There are no sidewalks on key sections of E. McGlincy, and on-street parking for local businesses is extremely limited.
The EIR for the Project excludes specific issues the community needs analyzed and mitigated.
Stantec Consulting Services has been hired to prepare the Project’s Environmental Impact Report (EIR), but their scope excludes key issues the community cares about—like traffic counts, parking, circulation, site access, and level of service analysis.
At the EIR scoping meeting, it was made clear that impacts beyond the Project site—like real-world traffic and transit effects—won’t be meaningfully addressed.
These are the very concerns that need analysis and mitigation. Ignoring them not only fails the community—it may violate California law.
The Project also conflicts with the General Plan 2040.
